Whoever said that if you want to hide something from Africans just hide it in a book must be an all time genius or a prophet but
that's not the point, some people have at least learnt to read which is actually a very good  development with another little tini tiny problem. A lot of persons try to read but can't understand and some can't even retain or remember what they just read.  You know, this reminds me of the students who will always lazy around only to resume craming their text books and teacher's note one week to the exams Lol!. Where you part of that crew? I was part of it at some point but now I know better and that is why I am sharing this knowledge with  you that you may open a new chapter in your brain that can release happy endorphins each time you open and finish a book.

Let me go straight to the point. Most of us look at books thinking we are reading and yet wonder why we can't retain what we have read or even grab any useful thing from the book you just finished reading,  some persons like me even get angry  wondering if I was reading the book in the wrong way or perhaps in another language. Here is a fact, if you do something constantly and don't get the desired result, something is definitely wrong somewhere and needs to be fixed. Unfortunately, Most of the people  have not even discovered something is wrong and those who discovered simply can't go digging to find the solution because of one excuse or the other, too bad. It is indeed my pleasure to quickly share with you my latest discovery about reading and gaining the knowledge.

The secret to reading and gaining knowledge lies in the words STUDY and INTEREST!. Sometimes we read some books as though they are all Vogue Magazines and so just get entertained without acquiring a knowledge fit to be stored as a defence weapon for the future. First let me ask you, when you pick a book to read, what is you intention for picking the book? Is it to occupy time while waiting for someone? Is it because you need to pass your exams?, Is it because you were challenged to finish a book? Or is it because you have great interest in the content of a particular book? It is of great importance that you read books that interest you especially if you just started to cultivate the habit of reading. Where there's an interest, you surely have 80% chances of  retaining that knowledge. My mother was once a Literature and English teacher and I remember my younger sister Sandra and I will always go to steal my mum's literature novels even after we were scolded not go there and also flogged. Sometimes I ask myself how is it possible that I remember the  Julius Caesar, Twelfth Night; books by shakespare I read when I was ten?.Now I know why, my sister and I had great interest in the stories we read. I had to go as far as begging one of my aunt to teach me how to read the Old Shakespearean novels as each page had behind it some kind of commentary or quotes; obviously that wasn't something easy for a ten year old to read but, the interest was there. If you don't read with the interest to know you might possibly forget 95% of what you read.  I remember when I complained to my colleague that I just can't remember what I read, his advice was just get one thing out of the book. Ok ok, that could be fine but I knew what knowledge meant and so I seeked it with greed and wasn't satisfied until I met another man who told me about interest and study.

Even God Almighty has hidden the riches in his glorious inheritance in a book we all know as bible, this is to tell you that knowledge is one of the most expensive yet cheap hidden values. Reading waters your mind to enable the growth of already planted seeds of knowledge inside  of you. To gain great knowledge one must study and read with great interest , the revelations or  inspirations of the future come to man from what he already know which ignites the power of his imagination to imagine and aspire for  the future. You don't imagine or build or even achieve when there's no foundation of knowledge. Knowledge holds the key to progress in life and opens more doors than money but this  is only if you understand that to gain knowledge, you have to read quality books with great content of your interest, study it and also turn the knowledge you have gained into action. That's how knowledge becomes power!

 Let's see how you will forget easily the wisdom or inspiration gained from a book if you keep to what you just read.
