Lessons from my Manager

I started working from a very young age and since then I have really worked under many supervisors and Managers. Funny enough
there were some I thought really hated me, some I wish I never met them, some I wonder how they became supervisors in the first place.

At some point I derived joy making them angry just because I want to get back at them. I have never really paid attention to that Person called #MANAGER!. I am very familiar with the word manager because I am a management student and understand the theoretical aspect of Management, manager and risk bearing, ok back to what I was saying.

So like I said earlier I never really paid attention to the Office of the manager not even to think of the person called manager. I guess I have to thank God for the gift of time because as we grow older, something's naturally unfold. Recently, I was having a little problem keeping up with a particular  work routine in the office. I tried to meet up with deadline but by the time I meet up with it, I am wasted.

I started asking myself some questions; if I can't get this one thing done does it mean I can't even manage others when am still struggling with managing myself?. O yes! There came my answer or revelation. I didn't even realise that I have moved from the girl who had always wanted to get back at "annoying Managers" to wanting to be a manager. Haha did you just smile? What a life!

In search for the secret and solution to my dilemma, I understood something great and deep. I found out a Manager is not that regular person you see or know, a Manager is like your alarm clock who's only duty is first to plan , set a goal and work towards it through you. Thus, they ring you back to reality and duty check. You might think this is easy but can you really handle  70-150peoples alarm ringing at different times? Think about it.

The next useful point I got was, managers are either friendly or very bossy and that's their way of getting you do something for them aside from the pay. It means that managers can achieve 20 results at the same time because he or she assigned twenty people that role with the same deadline.  Now let's take it to personal life.

Sometimes we want to do it all and find out we can't finish it all even when you want concentrate on one, the other might be late. The first thing a Manager looks for are reliable persons to work with because they know they can never do it alone. No matter how difficult your work is, always first look for those who can help you, just get friendly and give a little smile and your work is done. I have done this couple of times and it is working, even a gatekeeper, okpa seller to my hair stylist helps me out with work. I would ask questions and they would genuinely do it for me because I am friendly.

Next time your manager assigns a duty to you no matter how difficult it is, don't say you can't because they are training you to think outside the box and on how to become a Manager in future, think smart and achieve faster. Understand that you can be your little manager with your little group you just have to grab the chemistry.You are a tree and branches that you grow reaches out more and soon bears fruits for you.

Have you ever observed that most Managers even though they work so hard, are a bit free and relaxed than others? That's because in their position they know they can't do it all and have done the needful, they assign and guide. So my dear reader, next time you find yourself somewhere strange, or in between hectic job, first find your helpers. Remember anybody can help you to achieve your goal. Your eyes should always be on the goal and achieving it. So if Mohammed go to mountain or mountain came to Mohammed, the most important thing is they met.
Don't do the work alone, look for stress relievers, helpers and become your little manager and supervisor in your small office or house corner. Until you learn to be your little manager, you, your business, your studies etc would really give you a hard time because a tree can't make a forest.

That's it, Managers might not know or be more intelligent than you even though they have the experience but trust me the greatest thing they learnt is the Mathematics of multiplication and designing of efforts to achieve a goal.  They understand using their time wisely and resources wisely too.
1x1=1 but 1x20=20
If Manager is 1 you can see that no matter what it does it can only come back to 1 but the reach out brings greater result.
Think about it.
